Diploma in Education Secondary (DES)
The Diploma in Education (Secondary) (DES) at Uganda Pentecostal University prepares students to become competent and effective secondary school teachers. The program combines theoretical knowledge in subjects such as mathematics, sciences, humanities, and languages with practical teaching experience, including lesson planning, classroom management, and instructional methods.
Graduates are equipped to teach in secondary schools, support curriculum implementation, and contribute to school-based learning initiatives. The diploma also provides a pathway for further studies, including progression to a Bachelor’s degree in Education, enhancing professional growth and leadership opportunities.

Entry Requirements:

Direct Entry: UCE or equivalent with at least five passes including English and Mathematics; or UACE with at least two principal passes, including a science or mathematics subject. Relevant subjects may include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geography, and other sciences. General Paper is desirable.

Diploma Entry: A relevant diploma in Science Education, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, or a related field from a recognized institution. Diploma holders may enter Year Two, subject to credit evaluation and faculty approval.

Mature Age Entry: Applicants 25 years or older with UCE or equivalent, including passes in English and Mathematics. Admission requires passing the Mature Age Entry Examination as per NCHE guidelines.
