Diploma of Law
The Diploma in Law at UPU is an entry-level programme designed to provide students with a strong foundation in legal knowledge, principles, and procedures. It equips learners with essential skills in legal reasoning, research, and communication while fostering an appreciation of law as a tool for justice and social order.
Graduates are prepared to work as legal clerks, paralegals, or legal assistants in law firms, courts, corporate entities, and government institutions. The programme also offers a pathway for further academic progression into the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) for those aspiring to advance in the legal profession.

Entry Requirements - Diploma in Law
Direct Entry

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent, with at least five passes including English Language.

Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least one principal pass and two subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting.

Essential subjects include: Literature in English, History, Economics, Geography, Entrepreneurship, Religious Education, and other humanities or arts-related subjects.

General Paper is desirable.
Certificate Holders’ Entry

A relevant Certificate in Law or related field from a recognized institution may be considered for admission into the Diploma programme.
Mature Age Entry

Applicants who are 25 years and above and have completed UCE may be admitted upon passing the Mature Age Entry Examination as per National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) guidelines.
