Vice Chancellor's Message

With great pleasure I welcome you to this official Website of the Uganda Pentecostal University. As already indicated in its address, the University’s headquarters is located Fort Portal City in Western Uganda right at the foot hills of the Rwenzori Mountains also known in ancient mythology as the “mountains of the moon”.

It currently housed in the Orukurato and other premises (Parliament) of Tooro Kingdom locate at Mucwa Hill; by virtue of the kindness of His Majesty of the King of Tooro. Although the University is located just a few miles of North of the Equator, the altitude moderates the weather and creates a cool almost temperate climate; around the year, suitable for suitable for studies.

In addition to its excellent weather, the Cityof Fort Portal is surrounded by natural attractions including the Rwenzori Mountains National Park, the Kibale Forest National Park, the Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Semliki Game Reserve. It also has over 100 volcanic lakes in the vicinity and the great Rift Valley lakes of Lake Albert, Lake Edward, Lake Edward as well as numerous rivers exist within. These protected areas have a wealth of wildlife including the chimpanzees and other primates of the forests, antelopes and greater mammals of the plains, mountain dwelling animals and fisheries and other aquatic wildlife of the rivers and lakes.

The University started in 2001 mainly as a Law School, it has since expanded to cover several other disciplines which are listed on this website and are accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) of the Government of Uganda. The courses offered are at various levels, post graduate, diploma, and certificate as well as short courses which are taught in accordance to need. The University also runs a Liaison Centre situated on Wakaliga Road, Rubaga Division Kampala City. It coordinates programmes in Law for evening students whose jobs and responsibilities cannot allow them to be resident in Fort Portal. Weekend courses are also offered at the University Headquarters.

Our graduates who have completed law school are admissible to the Law Development Centre (Bar Course); and have so far done an excellent job both at the Centre and at the Bar. This good performance has also been reflected by the our graduates in other disciplines..
